Underwater Eco-system

You might have heard already we are learning about underwater eco-systems.

We have done lots of research and found lots of interesting facts. We wrote reports about the things that effect underwater eco-systems. We tried to use cause and effects words. After we finished our report we made movies to help explain and share our learning.

Here's an example of a video that Henry and Leo made:

Maths Stories

During maths week we wrote 'maths stories'. These could be about anything maths related - we tried to be as creative as possible with these. Here's a few that we uploaded earlier.

Certificates - Term 3

It's always nice to celebrate the successes and achievements of those around us. This week we are lucky enough to have two categories of certificates that were given out.

The first were out Principals Awards. These are given out to children who have shown one or more of our KNS values. Well done to all of you!

Our next set of certificates go out to some fantastic swimmers. These awards were given out to those children who were able to swim 200 metres! Wow - what an effort!

Maths - Family Challenge

Today's maths challenge was to add up all the children in our families and finding out what the total was. We needed a system to count up all of the children.

We came up with lots of ideas. We had to compromise and find a solution. We decided to make a tally chart. Lucy wrote the numbers of children in the each family. Then she asked people to put up their hands and share how many children were in their family.

After we had completed our tally chart some of us had a go at working the total out. Pearse showed us how he counted in 2s, 3s, and 4s to get the total. Hayden showed us how you could solve this quicker by multiplying the numbers.

Groups of the week

I haven't posted our groups in a long time - it's time to get back into the habit of posting our winners! Here are the winning groups from the last two weeks. Well done!

Individuals and groups get points for lots of different reasons. Some of the easiest ways of getting points are:
  • Bringing your notebook each week
  • Beating your maths score on Friday
  • Settling to work quickly
  • Helping tidy the classroom
  • Following instructions

Sound of the week

This week our spelling sound is: nk
