Cross Country

10.45 year 3 girls
11.00 year 3 boys
11.15 year 4 girls
11.30 year 4 boys

I've listed the times that we'll be racing next week above. We'd love to see you down there. A couple of quick things though:

1. Unlike other years, children will be returning to school. That means they'll need a change of clothes (it's likely to be muddy!)

2. There will still be a sausage sizzle! Please bring a gold coin on the morning.

3. It might rain (and could definitely be chilly). It's important that all children have something warm to wrap up afterwards.

4. Shoes! Please make sure you wear appropriate shoes. It's probably a good idea to bring a second pair incase the first pair gets wet.

See you all there

Life Education - Harold

Today we were lucky enough to visit Harold and the Life Education team. We focused on healthy eating and looked at the different food groups. We then had sort and organise the foods into the different categories.

Books, books, books

I've had some parents recently come and ask me for some recommendations for books - I've asked our amazing librarian for some help with this and she has come back with a great list.

Click on this link to see the books. This list includes;

  • some that are part of series like The Travelling Restaurant  and The Mysterious Benedict Society
  • some that are classics like Peter Pan and Five Children and It
  • some great authors like Brian Selznick, Joy Cowley, Michael Morpurgo, Katherine Paterson and Jenny Nimmo

Here is another website that has some different books as well

Division

This week we'll be looking at division. Division can seem complicated but it just means "shared between" OR asks you how many sets you have.

These games below should help you practice:

Had enough? Check out this website for a list of more division related games

Spelling Sound

Week 3's spelling sound is the "ou" pattern. It can be found in lots of different words - have a watch of Geraldine and let her show you how to make this sound.

Pop Art

This week we've been introduced to Pop Art. Pop Art is a really interesting and modern art movement. It often features bold colours and lines. Sometimes it even takes it's inspiration from comic books!

Here's a powerpoint we went through and discussed as class. In the powerpoint you'll see examples of famous Pop Art artists as well as some information about where Pop Art came from.

Shop online

Your task....

Use the the countdown website to find and search for healthy snacks and meals you can put in your lunch box. Record what it is you have chosen and how much it costs in total.

For the experts: How much will this cost over a week? Can you plan lunches for another family member - will they eat more or less than you? Plan an unhealthy lunchbox - does this cost more or less?

Changes to our blog

Initially this blog was used to give parents a snapshot into the classroom - however the growing use of seesaw has made this far easier and has made the blog somewhat redundant.

So with that being said, this blog will now become:

- A place where tasks, games and activities can be accessed
- A record of learning for some class activities

Please feel free to visit this blog as much as you like but be aware that as our needs have changed, the blog will not be updated in the same way it has been.
